Commercial Audit
Introduction
The wing deals mainly with the audit of Government companies, Statutory Corporations and Departmentally-managed commercial and semi-commercial undertakings. It also conducts audit of the accounts of statutory bodies entrusted to the Comptroller and Auditor General under Section 20 of the Comptroller and Auditor General's (Duties, Powers and Conditions of Service) Act, 1971. Besides, a Resident Audit Office is located at Patiala to conduct audit of Punjab State Electricity Board and Punjab state electricity regulatory commission.
Headquarters Sections (Commercial Audit - I, II, III and Vetting) deal with audit planning, deployment of field staff for audit of Government companies / corporations, vetting of inspection reports, (finalisation of) separate Audit Reports on accounts and processing of draft paras, reviews for State Audit Report (Commercial) and vetting of draft audit comments under section 619(4) of the Companies Act, 1956.
Resident Audit Office, Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala deals with planning and programming of field staff for the audit of various offices / units of Punjab State Electricity Board and Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
